What is Euflexxa? Euflexxa is a gel-like, elastic, sterile product that contains highly purified hyaluronan, also known as sodium hyaluronate and Hyaluronic Acid (HA). Euflexxa replenishes the HA in the knee and helps to restore the synovial fluid to cushion, lubricate, and protect the knee. Unlike pills, Euflexxa is localized therapy, meaning it goes to the source of the pain and is not distributed through your entire body. How is Euflexxa administered? Euflexxa is injected directly into your knee by your physician. A typical treatment cycle consists of three injections given weekly over three weeks. Immediately after an injection for the following 48 hours, activities such as heavy lifting, jogging, tennis, or standing on your feet for a long time should be avoided.

How soon will I get pain relief from Euflexxa? Although pain relief vaires from person to person and depends on the severity of your pain, some people experiance pain relief after the first or second injection, but most people after the third (last) injection.
Are there any side effects from Euflexxa? The most common side effects of Euflexxa therapy are pain, swelling, skin irritation and tenderness and are generally mild and did not last long. In rare cases patients experianced back pain, increased blood pressure, fatigue, nausea and burning, itching, and/or tingling sensation. If any of these symptoms appear, or you have any other problems, you should call your doctor.
Who should not use Euflexxa? People who have had a previous allergic reaction to hyaluronate products, or have an infection or skin disease around the injection site should not use Euflexxa. Euflexxa has not been tested in pregnant or nursing women.
